Journey to the motherland of Yoga and immerse yourself in yoga, meditation and ayurveda at the peaceful sanctuary of Maitreyi Vedic Village. Relax in the quiet and beauty of nature in the Tamil Nadu countryside away from cities and a busy pace of life. Take time to connect with your Soul opening to your innate radiance. Each morning of this 10-day retreat we will awake to greet the day with Vedic chanting, silent meditation and an Ayurvedic yoga class aimed at gently building the inner agni (internal fire) while balancing your body and mind.

Chin Mudra Meditation
This retreat includes a strong focus on Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, aimed at balancing the body through understanding of the five elements and 3 doshas. Participants will receive a consultation with the resident Vaidya (Ayurvedic Doctor) to assess your individual needs at the beginning of the retreat. Then you will be given seven Ayurvedic treatments (1 per day with a couple days off for excursions) aimed at deeply relaxing the body, calming the nervous system and restoring the body to balance and wholeness. Treatments often include abhyanga (relaxing oil Ayurvedic massage), shirodhara (oil streamed on the forehead to reduce stress and tension) and herbal formulas to support health. The regular Ayurvedic treatments for the duration of the retreat will support a deep rejuvenation process in your body and mind.
There is free time throughout the day to explore the retreat grounds, take a walk through the organic gardens at Maitreyi, journal, explore personal yoga practice, enjoy the resident cows or sit and simply Be. Afternoons include a class that incorporates chanting, meditation and often a spiritual talk on Ayurveda or yoga philosophy. Some evenings there will be special events put on by the retreat center such as a traditional Indian dance performance and videos about Indian culture and other evenings are free. Three delicious Ayurvedic, vegetarian meals are served daily. Private sessions with the teachers can be scheduled during the retreat.
Other optional retreat activities include homas (fire ceremonies) led by the resident pandits (priests), a Vastu (Vedic architecture design/Indian Feng Shui) tour of Maitreyi Retreat, garden/herb tour of Matreyi and two excursions to nearby temples and a tea plantation.
This ten-night retreat begins with an evening meal at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 25th and ends mid-morning on Friday, March 6th after a morning session and breakfast.
