Have you been teaching or practicing yoga for a while and would now like to bring your yoga anatomy and physiology knowledge to the next level? Join us for this four-day intensive to delve deeper into the body’s systems through the lens of yoga. In this course you will gain an in-depth understanding of the systems of the body and how to apply certain yogic practices for physiological health. We will focus on the musculo-skeletal system, looking at the muscles, bones, fascia and kinesiology. This course offers instruction in safe and effective teaching of poses using anatomically correct cues. Examples of study will include the shoulder girdle, pelvic girdle, and spine to name a few, focusing on muscle, bone, and joint functions along with kinesiology and the application to specific yoga postures.
Each day will include a two-hour asana class that specifically pertains to that day’s focus. This will be followed by two lecture/discussion blocks where you will learn about the systems and regions of the body and how to apply this knowledge to teaching poses and pranayama. The day will conclude when this knowledge is put into practice through teaching other course participants.
This course is ideal for yoga instructors or seasoned yoga practitioners who are looking to take their teaching and practice to the next level with thoughtful, deeper knowledge of the body. Each day includes a 1-hour lunch break.
