200-HR YTT Class at Bliss Studio

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Our current 2017 YTT is underway. This training will not be offered again in Maine until 2019.

The ShivaShakti Yoga Teacher Training Course is a comprehensive Yoga Alliance-approved 200-hour level program in Maine. The course is designed to initiate students onto the path of yoga and prepare them to teach others. The program offers a strong foundation in asana, concentrating on alignment, vinyasa (flow), strength, and breath. ShivaShakti Yoga is a yoga of hard and soft with asana classes varying from physically vigorous Vinyasa flows to softer and more gentle classes. Emphasis is placed on the development of the student’s personal practice in addition to teaching methodology and its practical application. Classical yogic philosophy is interwoven throughout the program, drawing on Vedantic and Tantric beliefs. Students receive a thorough education in Anatomy and Physiology as it pertains to a yoga practice. The program also includes daily yogic chanting and meditation. For a more complete list of topics covered see the Curriculum below. Upon completion of the course, students receive their ShivaShakti Yoga Teacher Certification and are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200. ShivaShakti School of Yoga is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance.

This training is offered in Maine in a weekend format, consisting of seven 3-day weekend sessions that meet monthly for approximately six months. This schedule is beneficial to those students who want to continue working and living at home while participating in the program. The month interval between trainings provides ample time for assimilation of the depth of knowledge being covered. In between the weekend trainings, students are expected to practice regularly, honing the skills and embodying the information covered in the training. This 200-hour yoga teacher training limits enrollment to 20 participants to ensure plenty of trainee-instructor connection time.

  • Krishna and Aiyana are wonderful teachers who impart a vast wealth of knowledge to their students. They teach and share from the heart, and their love of yoga, yogic lifestyle, and their student community shines through everything they do.  ShivaShakti Yoga Teaching Training has been the most valuable educational experience I have ever had. I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated in this beautiful program. I look forward to sharing my teachings with others.–L. S., audiologist

  • I never expected the life changing experience I had during my time in the ShivaShakti YTT. My entire family has found a spirituality through yoga and we are extremely grateful.–S. L. Martial Arts Instructor

  • I love ShivaShakti Yoga. What a gift!–K. H.

  • 4 words: It changed my life. Such a beautiful experience; I feel like I am at a loss for words to describe the past 8 months of my life. I have acquired the best tools for anything that comes my way. I am truly thankful to Krishna and Aiyana for all the love and guidance.–J. S., baker

  • The ShivaShakti YTT offered me a comprehensive program in yoga instruction. The once-a-month format was convenient. I didn’t have time to go to an immersion class and I didn’t have to travel very far to attend. I liked that I had time between classes to deepen my studies and process the information. I am a better person for having attended ShivaShakti YTT. I feel prepared to teach and I have the tools and resources to succeed.–G. R-S., social worker

  • Entering the ShivaShakti program was the single most important thing I ever decided to do in my life. It was very thorough on the technical side and also offered a very thorough dose of bhakti/spiritual practice: pranayama, meditation, chanting/kirtan, etc. The program was more than I could have ever expected, and is quite simply transformational on all levels and changed my life completely. For the first time in my life I feel that I am walking the path of my true Self, and now teach from my home studio and at another local yoga studio.–J. G., yoga teacher, Thai Yoga Bodywork practitioner
